Our August luncheon will be Tuesday, August 10th at 10 am. Ken Brookins will be our guest. He will lead an open forum on finances. I’m sure he will give us some much needed information that will help us make wise decisions concerning our finances.

We have 21 making the trip to Orlando for the Senior Celebration. The final payment will be $140.00 and will be due by September 19th.

I believe the trip to Branson in November we’ll make – but we could take a few more people. A deposit for this trip is due now. Come on and let’s enjoy an early Christmas experience.

The program guest was Kristina Williams from Emerald Coast Hospice. She presented the material in such a professional way. Hospice is an act of compassion that can have a large impact on families and their loved ones. Craig Brannon was also present and he is a chaplain for Emerald Coast Hospice.

If you are interested in a day trip to Destin to attend a performance of “The Le Grand Cirque” on Thursday June 17th – please let me know. Call me for information. Also, we are planning a trip to Georgia to get peaches. This will be an overnight trip; more details soon.

A day trip is in the making. How would you like to go to Destin to see “The Le Grand Cirque”? We plan to go on a Thursday afternoon for a showing at 2:00 pm; may be looking at June 17th. Think about it – we will talk about it at our meeting on Tuesday.

Bob continued our Bible Study from the book of Revelation. This was our second study from Revelation and we look forward to this ongoing study. Bob is such a good teacher that it makes us want to hear more.

The SunShine Singers from the Panama City Women’s Club were our guests. They took us on a musical journey across America – singing songs of many states plus other fun songs. We enjoyed their program very much. They came and spread a little sunshine around with their happy smiles.

A group of 22 will travel to Dothan for the Johnnie Mack Brown Festival this Saturday. We look forward to a good day. Trip information for a Christmas trip to Branson is available – ask me for a copy.

Our program guest was Bill Zahler. He is a member of First Baptist and a member of the disaster relief team of our association. He helped us understand more about the “Buckets of Hope” Ministry to help feed Haitian families. I am proud of our seniors from Immanuel. They have helped fill 11 baskets that will help feed 11 families for about a week. This is a means by which we can fulfill the mandate of Jesus to feed the hungry in His name.

In our Bible Study time with Bob – he began a new theme of study. We began looking at the book of Revelation. He read from Revelation chapters 1 and 2 and also 2 Peter 3. We look forward to this study as we continue in April.

We have already had a good response concerning our Buckets of Hope mission project. Right now we have a promise of 7 buckets and we can add more if needed. If you have not helped and want to – just bring your items to our luncheon meeting.

This past Sunday night Jennie London, coordinator for volunteer missions for our association, talked about the “Buckets of Hope” to feed Haitian families. I thought it would be nice for us to fill a bucket or two or maybe more. The deadline will be our luncheon date the 9th because they must be turned in to the association by March 15th. Below find listed the items needed; the items can be store brand but do not substitute any item or add any other item:

• 5 lb. bag long grain enriched rice
• 48 oz. plastic bottle cooking oil
• 2 lb. bag dry black or red beans
• 5 lb. bag of all-purpose flour
• 20 oz. cylinder of granulated white sugar
• 1 lb. box spaghetti noodles
• 40 oz. plastic jar smooth peanut butter

I will have the buckets and Ziploc storage bags. Thank you – this will be a worthwhile mission project.

Bob’s Bible study was taken from the first three chapters of Colossians. As Christians we are to grow in the knowledge of God and let our service always be pleasing to God.

Rize and Shyne Presentations is the ministry of Deborah Tainsh. Her talk was inspiring and challenged us to face difficult experiences with the help of our Lord. She has written a book “Heart of a Hawk” that is the true story of her family’s sacrifice and journey toward healing. They lost their only son in the Iraqi War. We remember USA Sgt. Patrick Tainsh, 1970-2004.

This has been a busy time for all of us as we have been involved in our regular activities at Immanuel this year.

Our Bible Study was taken from Matthew, Chapters 1 & 2. Bob reviewed the story of Christmas – The Birth of Jesus Christ – with us. He challenged us to make Christmas a time of commitment and renewal of our life in service to God.

This is a busy time for all of us – but we need to stay involved in all that is planned for Immanuel during this Christmas season.

Our luncheon meeting will follow on Tuesday the 8th. We will begin in the Church Worship Center as Elizabeth Ford presents a musical concert. You will not want to miss this time together as we worship God through her music. After this program we will have our Bible Study with Bob and then enjoy lunch together.

I do thank you for your donations to the food pantry last month even when we were unable to meet. You are always so willing in your ministry to others.

The first Saturday in December we are going to Baptist College of Florida to enjoy their Christmas Musical. This will be on the 5th in the afternoon – more details next week. The tickets for the show are $5.00. I need to know this Sunday the 29th if you want to go. We will go out for dinner after the show.

She has a beautiful voice – you will not want to miss this time together as we worship God through her music. After this program we will have our Bible Study with Bob and then enjoy lunch together.

Now for more details about our trip in November to Brundidge. The $25.00 for dinner & show tickets is due now. The balance of trip to include motel and transportation is $49.00 due by November 1st. We will leave on November 13th and return November 14th. We will attend the dinner & show on Friday night and on Saturday we will have lunch in Abbeville at Huggin’ Molly. There are 20 planning to make this trip.

Bob’s Bible Study was taken from the 1st chapter of Colossians. These are Paul’s writings to the faithful in Colossians. His prayer for them was that they would live a life worthy of the Lord, bear much fruit, and grow in the knowledge of God. This is the same challenge to us today. We will continue this study of Colossians at our next luncheon meeting.

Our guest for our program was Kim Houser, Director of the Advance Planning from Wilson Funeral Home. Her information was very helpful and very well presented. This pre-need planning helps provide peace of mind at a very difficult time for families.

Bob’s Bible Study was taken from Ephesians 6. Again, he challenged us from God’s Word. As Christians we are to put on the full armor of God and stand up always for Jesus. Remembering to read and study our Bible daily and to pray in the spirit.

Our program for the day was some good ole’ Southern gospel music. Ron and Trish Brewer and their son Joseph were our guests. They are from Summerville, Ga. and we all enjoyed his singing. They were on a traveling tour and were to sing in two more churches in our area.

Our Bible Study was taken from Luke 10, verses 25-37 – The Parable of the Good Samaritan. As usual, Bob brought out the meaning from the study that challenged our thinking. We have enjoyed our studies in Luke and will study Chapter 16 at our next meeting.

Bro. Chris was our program guest. His topic was – Words of encouragement as we grow older. It has been said “Everybody gets to be young but not everybody gets to be old”. He encouraged us to recognize God’s faithfulness, trust in God, remember that Christ is our joy, He will not let us down and that He holds the future. We need to remember that with our age comes – wisdom – knowledge and experience and we should share it. Be willing to tell how the Lord has been faithful to us. Let’s grow old gracefully in the Lord!
